Wisconsin Right to Life Legislative Conference

Our bi-annual Legislative Conference will be held on Tuesday, February 12 at the Inn on the Park in Madison (directly across from our beautiful State Capitol). You'll receive all the tools and information you need to help in the enactment of new Wisconsin laws that will save lives!
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the Conference itself will begin at 9:00 a.m. We will begin the day with a BIG delicious breakfast. Short workshops will follow, presented by key state legislators and right-to-life leaders to fill you in on the legislation we will be promoting and to give you helpful tips on how to lobby your legislators. We'll head to the Capitol around 11:00 a.m. to meet with your legislators. Your appointment with your legislators will be pre-arranged for you and our staff will help direct you to their offices.
The elections resulted in a state legislature that is even more pro-life than before! That means much can be accomplished to pass life-saving state legislation that will protect babies and their moms.
The conference will end with a wrap-up session in the Capitol and you will be on your way home about 1:00 pm. For those who might want to stay on, we will arrange for you a tour of our historic state Capitol building.
The cost for the Conference is: Adults $25 / Students $15.
To attend the conference, you must register and pay in advance. Call toll free 877-855-5007 or, locally, 414-778-5780 for more information.
The Registration Form for the Legislative Conference can be found on our website here: http://www.wrtl.org/events/legislativeconference.aspx

Wisconsin Right to Life Poised to Lead Right-to-Life Agenda in State Legislature
The silver lining in the November 6 elections is that Wisconsin has a right-to-life Governor, Scott Walker, and strong right-to-life majorities in both houses of the legislature!
Wisconsin Right to Life distributed over 12 million voter education messages to inform voters about the positions of right-to-life candidates, and to identify who is pro-abortion, using television ads, radio ads, bus transit signs, mailings, phone calls, the Internet, text messages and social media. Our parent organization, the National Right to Life Committee, supplemented our activities with mailings and radio ads.
Wisconsin Right to Life is the only pro-life organization in Wisconsin that conducted such extensive activities.
What do these results mean for the legislative session beginning in January 2013? New legislation intended to protect unborn children, women, families, and taxpayers is possible. Wisconsin Right to Life stands poised to work closely with committed legislative leaders to enact a right-to-life state legislative agenda.
Measures under consideration are:
- Prohibiting the use of your taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions for state employees
- Requiring that a woman seeking abortion view an ultrasound of her unborn child
- Prohibiting the performance of an abortion on an unborn child who will experience pain from the procedure
- Prohibiting abortions based on the sex of the unborn child, most commonly directed at baby girls
There is little support in the legislature to amend the state constitution to grant personhood to the unborn child — Wisconsin Right to Life will continue to oppose that measure as dangerous to Wisconsin’s unborn children.
Stay tuned for developments and to assist in enacting this important agenda.

What People Are Saying About Wisconsin Right to Life's Veritas Society
Wisconsin Right to Life's Veritas Society is the Nation's Oldest and Most Effective
Right-to-Life Media Campaign
Sen. Rick Santorum

"Watching these [Veritas Society] videos today, I just have to pause here for a moment. I speak all over the country. I've spoken at many right-to-life organizations. I will tell you, I have never seen an organization that has a greater impact in their community than what I saw here today. You are amazing. I am in awe of what you are doing. So let me thank you -- all of you who have been here and supported Wisconsin Right to Life -- you are obviously by the [reduction in abortions] numbers we saw here tonight, you are obviously making a huge difference. It is no accident that [Wisconsin's] abortion rates are half of what the rest of the country is."
Pam Tebow

"You know, whenever I travel to Wisconsin to spend time with you and speak on behalf of the Veritas Societies' work, I am always moved by how many of you tell me God Stories. Stories that, were it not for the intervention of God Himself, would not have happened. I hear over and over how the work you are doing has the hand of God resting gently upon it. The work that is done by the Veritas Society in saving lives for both time and eternity is remarkable to see. Of course, the cost to do this work is considerable. But isn't it worth it? Isn't it worth it to see the lives that are being saved? When you look at the statistics that Barbara [Lyons] shared with us, it shows that you, here in Wisconsin are leading the way. Wow! What I would say to anyone considering support for the Veritas Society is this: Don't you won't to be part of the successful impact the Veritas Society is having? Don't you want to be part of something that is so much greater than you as an individual? Don't you want to be part of a grand God story? I do, and I believe you do as well."
