Our keynote speakers are
Dr. Tara Sander Lee, Dr. Maria Feeney, & Dr. Kathleen Schmainda
Tara Sander Lee, PhD is a Scientist with over 15 years of experience in academic medicine, with an emphasis on genetic diagnosis and childhood disease. She obtained a Bachelor of Science from Beloit College, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and research fellowship training at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital. She is an Associate Scholar for the Charlotte Lozier Institute and has provided expert legislative testimony in Minnesota, Texas, and Wisconsin. She has served as a molecular pathology inspector for the College of American Pathologists and scientific consultant for various entities within the community, including TAI Diagnostics and the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner. She is published in numerous medical journals and text books, and has received several awards including Milwaukee Business Journal’s Forty under 40 Award.
Maria B. Feeney, PhD, is a scientific consultant and has expertise in the areas of chemistry, biochemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, pharmaceutics, and biotechnology. She earned her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from The University of Kansas and her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a minor in Philosophy, from Saint Louis University. She has conducted laboratory research at various academic institutions and in the biotechnology industry.
Kathleen M. Schmainda, PhD is a Medical Engineer and Scientist with over 20 years of experience. She received a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University, a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as a Ph.D. in Medical Engineering from both MIT and Harvard University. Dr. Schmainda conducts brain cancer research and has served on numerous National Institutes of Health grant review panels, and has served on several national advisory boards for imaging and clinical trials.
